Love Wins

"But I tell you who hear me; Love your enemies, do good for those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you." -Luke 6:27-31

Pretty simple right? I mean, seems pretty easy to go out there and love your enemy and do good to them at the same time right? And lets not forget how easy it would be to bless the ones who are cursing at you. "I hope you can hear my sarcasm"...

Would you really pray (good) for someone if they mistreated you? If someone punches or hits you would you turn and walk away or would you hit them back? Do you always help people when they ask or do you come up with an excuse to get out of it? Lets say an unfourtunate person on the corner of a freeway overpass asking for a meal, have you ever offered up your lunch to them knowing that you could get through the day only to get to your fridge later and eat anything you wanted? Or do you look the other way and hope that the red light that you stopped at turns green real fast? Have you ever loaned money to someone and never got it back? Are you the type that will go after that person sopranos style and get what belongs to you? Or will you leave it in Gods hands that whatever happens with that money it was meant to be and hopefully it helps the person in the long run, instead of ruining a friendship? I would hope money wouldn't drive you to such extremes...

Not all of these scenarios might be your expierience, maybe not even one concerns you. But if you are one of the people reading this that can see your actions in any of these scenarios, I would suggest that you remember that Jesus wants us to follow His example and help each other out when the opportunies arise, will you rise?

  • How would you feel if everyone treated you the way you treat others? Just saying...
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."                                   -Romans 12:21
-Steve (aXiom)
